Story Of A Great Man

Let me tell you a story,
But the story has no such glory,
They talk about in other legends,
This is no legend,
Nor a piece of history,
It is a simple tale,
I wish to call my story.

I was born in my village,
Where I learnt that to tillage,
Is better than,
Becoming emissary or governor,
Food will give you courage,
Grandmamma used to say,
And I don’t doubt her message.

I am a native of the Saharan land,
Where brave men now lie in the desert sand,
Where the night is lit with fire,
And the children,
Sit on the bare desert sand,
To listen to old tales,
Each holding the other’s hand.

I am a simple man,
From the evil of pride I ran,
My mother once told me,
Respect is everything,
If I should respect my clan,
They will tell my story like,
The story of a great man.
